Forgive the self-promotion, but I would love AML member's input to the discussions at Toward an LDS Cinema. Specifically I'd love any feedback on my argument for Latter-day Saints to take interest in Fight Club as an expression of ideologies deeply linked to LDS theology. The film, rightfully being rated 'R' lead to some discussion on LDS standards. I include links to two posts on that topic here and here (the second in on my friend Dennis Wendt's Blog 'Thinking in a Marrow Bone'). While I'm at it, I would like to include a link to the most thoughtful (and maybe the most overlooked, hence my mention of it here) discussion of Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ I've come across from a LDS perspective by Eric Thompson over on A Motley Vision.

Thank you, Trevor. I've read the articles you've linked to, and I want to think about what you've said on FIGHT CLUB before I go there and comment. But I did want you to know that your links got one reader, at least.

. Oh, I read you already. I don't often post replies (my reason isn't good: I don't like posting comments where ten people already have), but I keep up. Regarding the new post on Napoleon Dynamite, did you ever see the terrific article in Dialogue about ND and the priesthood?

Eric, I haven't even heard about that article, but I will search for it. speaking of: Adam's recent post is getting a lot of discussion here. He took reference from Eric Samuelson's article in BYU Studies, and a lot of people have had a lot to say about it. (and thanks Kathleen. I'd love to see what your response is).

It's not available online, but if you give me your email address, I can send you a pdf. Don't tell Dialogue.

Well, Trevor, I tried to respond. I don't think I was very helpful, though. Maybe I need to see the movie first.

Kathleen, I read and wrote an obscenely long response, though I don't think mine was much more helpful. thanks again.
