After a certain amount of time, older topics and posts will not show on the AML Discussion Board unless you tell the software to show them to you.

If you look at the bottom of the Introductions page, on the same line as the Watch Forum link (which is on the right), there is a pulldown on the left that says Show Topics.

If you "pull" that down, you will see that you can choose to see all of the topics, and if you select ALL, all of the Introductions will be available, but they'll be on more than one page.

I can see this being a good feature for a forum that's out-of-control busy, but otherwise, it seems to me that it just hides things that need not be hidden. It certainly doesn't help casual browsing.

One of my favorite aspects of a forum is how an old topic can be resurrected without anyone losing the thread of conversation. Someone joins this time next year and jumps right into the Sasquatch discussion and brings it back to life. The saw it sitting there, new something of interest, added it to the conversation; things come back to life.

The less easy it is to hap upon old threads, the less likely this is to happen.

Just a thought.

I agree. I've set the default "disappear" to six months at present, but I'd like there to be no disappear. There is something really cool about old threads getting picked up again, sometimes by new people with new insights.
