So, I have this new assignment in connection with my new association with the new Covey Center for the Arts in Provo: Find six plays to do for a season starting in February. In other words, I need to start rehearsing another play in about three weeks. Here's what I want: Six short (ten to twenty minutes) romantic comedies. Here are the parameters: one to four actors, simple sets, and some combination of these attributes (pick any two or more)--funny, charming, delightful, insightful, moving, theatrical, creative, bright, lovely, of good report or praiseworthy.

And I need it by Christmas day (in RTF format to bronsonjscott@juno.com), so get busy! I need a week to figure out which ones I can use and then I need to start rehearsing.

Thanks ... ever so much.

And here's a great review of the results:

This I must see...and you all should, too. I've seen "Rachel's Sister" before as a reading, and it's a great script...I've been in "The Look" and it was probably the most purely fun role I've ever had, mostly because Ari Rivera is a consistently fun writer...and Scott got an Elizabeth Gilliland piece I've never seen! Her short play "Last Chance" is still one of my all-time favorite pieces to be performed by NPP.
In short, this sounds thoroughly, thoroughly worth the time and ticket price. Maybe I'll see some of you there.

Our Little Theater is really quite little, only 55 seats with the ability to add a few more if necessary, up to about 60 or so, and yesterday we sold out tomorrow's (Valentine's Day) performance. So I got this call, "We want to move you into the big theater (about 650 seats) for Thursday's show, so we can keep selling tickets. So, my daughter, Paige (my stage manager) and I spent some time yesterday and today moving set pieces and props and costumes, and helping the crew set lighting and sound cues, and helping the actors get accustomed to the space and make adjustments in certain areas and scene changes and now I'm scared that we're going to a an itty bitty crowd in a huge theater instead of a full crowd in a small theater. So ... come tomorrow--Thursday--if you can. I'll be at the LTU&E Symposium at BYU tomorrow with 3 dollar off coupons. Thanks for your interest. Go back to your lives citizens.

The dates are ... um ... Thursdays through Saturdays 'til March 1. Times are 7:30 pm. Prices are $10.00 unless you've got a $3.00 off card from me which I can give you at the theater when you show up to see the show.

Saw it tonight, in the larger theater, and it was fun. Scott says the audience connection isn't there the way it is in the smaller theater, so I guess I'll have to come back to experience that.

One of the things I love about the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City is the opportunity to see the same actors in different roles, and "Anthology of Love" does that in wonderful ways. The variety of plays really shows the scope and talents of the actors, as well as the cleverness and wit of the playwrights.

I recommend this to everyone. You are bound to find something that will touch you and entertain you and make you think.
